About Us

Wazin Îchinabi Ti

“House of Oneness”

Wazin Îchinabi Ti functions in the spirit of an indigenous embassy.

The centre operates as a non-profit culture and community-based organization providing educational programming and services that promote Truth & Reconciliation principles for residents, visitors, and other organizations in Cochrane and surrounding areas.

Mission

Creating a space where learning is guided by Indigenous ways of knowing; and understanding is nurtured by Indigenous and Non-Indigenous people working in unity.

Vision/Purpose

Creating a future where Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples walk together, embracing truth, understanding and reconciliation, to build a harmonious and prosperous society for all.

Wazin Îchinabi Ti is guided by an Indigenous Majority Board of Directors, with a minimum of two reserved board positions for Iyahre representation and a local elder advisory Elder circle. In addition, the organization is supported by the generous commitment of time from community volunteers dedicated to serving the  Wazin Îchinabi Ti space.

Collectively, they bring a breadth of experience and wisdom that is crucial to the development of sound organizational policies and the maintenance of good governance.
